Bewitched is a chevron cowl worked in the round, and the right side faces you the whole time. You never turn the work, so the pattern stays in front of you round after round, and the chevron peaks and valleys line up cleanly as they build. That makes it an easy piece to pick up and set down, since you always know where you are.

The whole cowl runs on a three-round repeat, and the color changes every three rounds. That short interval is what keeps you going. You finish one color, the chevron shifts to the next, and you want to see how the following one settles into the peaks. It moves through one mini skein after another, so it is built for the small balls you have been holding onto and the leftovers that never found a project.

It works up quickly for the amount of movement in the fabric. Blocked, the cowl sits 27 inches around and 16 inches tall, deep enough to sit close at the neck or pull up when the wind turns cold. The chevron gives it life, and the color changes make a simple stitch pattern read as something far more involved.
